The name of a helicopter pilot killed Thursday night when his craft crashed into a north-central Minnesota lake was released Saturday by the Cass County Sheriff's Department.
The body of John Zacher, 56, of Hackensack, Minn., was recovered Friday from Ten Mile Lake in Hiram Township, according to Sheriff Tom Burch.
Zacher's body was found outside the copter about 150 feet from shore and in about 30 feet of water, Burch said. An autopsy is planned.
A passenger, Vicki Zacher, 55, was able to swim to shore and was treated for hypothermia.
The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Aviation Administration.
