A Mounds View man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly dragging an undercover police officer with his car the previous night.

Police arrested the 27-year-old man, who has not yet been formally charged, shortly after 10 a.m. today in Columbia Heights.

The man is considered a suspect in the dragging of an undercover officer Thursday night after the officer chased him outside a Leeann Chin Restaurant at 101 89th Ave. E. in Blaine.

The Anoka County deputy, part of a drug task force with Anoka and Hennepin counties, suffered a fractured shoulder and various bumps and scrapes. He was released from Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, said Lt. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called to the restaurant at 6:47 p.m. because of an argument between two men, one with a gun. They arrived to find that the undercover officer had been assaulted by a man who fled the restaurant.

The investigator, while trying to arrest the man, was dragged before he fired his gun once, hitting the suspect's vehicle before he escaped.
