DULUTH – A northeastern Minnesota man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally stabbing a Duluth landlord.
Raymond Weeks, 42, pleaded guilty in March to intentional second-degree murder.
Judge Shaun Floerke accepted the plea deal and sentenced Weeks on Thursday. Weeks was given credit for 263 days he already has served in jail.
Weeks pleaded guilty to stabbing 54-year-old Duluth landlord Kevin Tyman in December 2012. Tyman died hours after a single stab wound lacerated his liver.
The judge ordered Weeks to pay $2,300 for Tyman's funeral expenses.
Weeks' co-defendant, 32-year-old Joella Lee Tucker, pleaded guilty in March to aiding and abetting second-degree murder for her role in Tyman's death. She'll be sentenced next week.
Tyman was Tucker's former landlord. Authorities alleged she persuaded Weeks to kill Tyman.
