Man found fatally shot in yard of Hastings home; no arrests

June 24, 2014 at 8:56AM

A man was found shot to death outside a home in Hastings, and no arrests have been made, authorities said Monday.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday to a single-family house in the 1200 block of Eddy Street and discovered the victim in the front yard, police said.

The man's identity has yet to be released. Police said he was in his 30s.

Police are describing the shooting as "an isolated incident," suggesting there is no threat to the public. No weapon has been recovered.

"There is plenty of evidence to indicate that this wasn't random," said Police Chief Bryan Schafer, who declined to be more specific.

Schafer said that while such violence remains rare in his southeast metro suburb, Hastings is "a growing, changing community and with it comes the typical things that other communities see. We're not immune to that."

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 651-480-2300.
