A man was found slain in a Brooklyn Center motel over the weekend, and a suspect is under arrest, authorities said Monday.

Police officers were called to the Super 8 near Interstate 694 and Shingle Creek Parkway about 4:45 p.m. and found an unconscious man in a room, according to Police Cmdr. Tony Gruenig.

Efforts to revive the man were not successful, and he was declared dead at the scene, Gruenig added.

"Officers found injuries consistent with assault," the commander said in a statement.

The suspect, a 52-year-old man from Minneapolis, was booked into Hennepin County jail Sunday night on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail. His criminal history in Minnesota includes offenses ranging from assault to disorderly conduct, begging, theft, burglary and various alcohol-related offenses.

Authorities have yet to identify the victim or address the circumstances leading up to the killing.
