The man found dead Thursday morning in Shoreview died of a gunshot wound, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday.

Sheriff's spokesman Randy Gustafson said the death is being investigated as a homicide. There are no arrests in the case.

The man, who has not been identified by authorities, is described as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s. A deputy responding to a call of someone slumped against a building in the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue N. found the victim.

The victim didn't have any identification documents on him. Gustafson declined to say whether authorities believe he was killed at the location or placed there. He declined to release other details about the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

Authorities would not say how many times and where the victim was shot, only that the injury did not appear to be self-inflicted.

Anyone with information about the case can call authorities at 651-767-0640.
