A 35-year-old man found submerged in a hot tub at an Orono residence early Sunday was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The Minneapolis man was a visitor to the home in the 3900 block of North Shore Drive in Orono, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Orono police officers, fire and rescue personnel and the Sheriff's Office water patrol responded about 7 a.m. to a call for help. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead after being pulled from the backyard hot tub.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office said the man's name will be released after family members are notified.

The cause and manner of death will not be known for about a week, including whether drugs or alcohol were involved or whether the man died of drowning, according to the medical examiner's office.

Lisa Kiava, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office, said the office also is investigating the death.
