One man was killed and another was injured late Friday in Minneapolis in a shooting, police said.

The shooting on the 1800 block of Newton Avenue N. happened at 10:35 p.m., according to authorities, who were alerted by the city's ShotSpotter system.

When officers arrived, they found the dead man in front of a residence and a number of people in the area, police said in a statement early Saturday. Among them was the wounded man, who had been shot in the foot, the statement said. An ambulance took him to North Memorial Medical Center.

Police had no suspect information Saturday night. The slain man will be identified by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.
