A man fatally shot inside a duplex Wednesday night in St. Paul's W. Seventh neighborhood was the father of two young boys.

Police on Thursday were still investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Justin Finklea, 25, but said it was possible the shooting was accidental.

Authorities have not released Finklea's name or the cause of death, but he was identified by his mother in a Facebook post.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to care for his two boys, Braydin, 7, and Blakey, 5.

Police were called to the residence in the 400 block of W. Michigan Street around 11 p.m. Upon arrival, officers said they found the victim in the lower unit of the duplex with a gunshot wound.

Police and paramedics administered lifesaving efforts but were unsuccessful, and the victim died at the scene, said police spokesman Steve Linders.

A number of people were in the residence when the shooting occurred. All of them were being questioned by police and were cooperative, Linders said.

Police arrested a man, and no other suspects were being sought, Linders said. Police don't believe there is a risk to the public.

This was the 22nd homicide in St. Paul this year.
