A 61-year-old man died after he was reportedly swept by a large wave into Lake Superior in Lutsen, Minn., on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, who hasn’t been identified, was unresponsive and drifting in the current about 100 feet from the shore. Responders launched a boat from nearby Tofte, but were unable to navigate rough waters and turned back, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Border Patrol, which set out from Grand Marais, was able to retrieve the body from the lake. It will be sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The victim had been sitting on the shore with a woman. She decided to return to the cabin, but he wanted to stay longer. When she turned back, she saw “a large wave knock the man over and he was pulled into the water and couldn’t get back to shore,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The case is under investigation.

Some say the MAHA movement and GLP-1 drugs hurt sugar beet farmers. The White House is blaming former President Joe Biden.
