A man accused of hitting and killing an Uber driver while driving drunk was arrested Wednesday night in Brooklyn Park, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said.

Emery J. Winford, 42, was arrested shortly after the crash on March 16. After being treated for his injuries, he was charged with criminal vehicular homicide, driving without a valid license and other crimes. He apparently posted bond, then fled.

The Sheriff's Office said the Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force arrested him about 9 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 3200 block of 84th Avenue N.

Abdishakur A. Sandiko, 48, of Minneapolis, died March 19, three days after the crash at Lyndale and Plymouth avenues N. in Minneapolis.

Authorities said Winford was speeding and ran a red light. The crash sent Sandiko's car into an electrical box, causing a power outage that lasted several hours.
