A Minneapolis man was charged on Friday with second degree attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his victim at least 24 times outside of a downtown Minneapolis bar last month.
Johnnie Lee Evans Jr., 41, and another man were allegedly captured on surveillance video repeatedly stabbing the man outside Stadium Bar and Grill in the North Loop.
Police were called at 1:43 a.m. to the establishment, where they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery for two dozen stab wounds, including three to the heart and stab wounds to both lungs. He went into cardiac arrest twice but was revived.
Surveillance video showed the confrontation between the victim and several men, with an assault that lasted at least 20 seconds as the victim tried to flee his attackers into the street.
One man, Derry Darnell Evans Jr., 28, was identified and arrested in connection with the assault. After he was arrested, criminal charges say he identified his cousin Johnnie Lee as one of the stabbers. Police are still searching for Johnnie Lee Evans.
