Man charged in south Minneapolis sex assault

A Minneapolis man is charged with sexually assaulting a woman as she slept in a home in south Minneapolis' East Phillips neighborhood this month.

Police said the victim visited Justin Ironhawk, 39, at the home of Ironhawk's girlfriend, in the 2400 block of Ogema Place, for drinks. Ironhawk, police said, later offered to let her sleep on a bed in the basement so she wouldn't have to walk home in the cold.

The victim went to authorities after finding a video of the assault on Ironhawk's phone the following morning, according to a criminal complaint filed this week in Hennepin County District Court. The assault occurred between 3:30 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 17, the complaint said.

Ironhawk was arrested at the home earlier this week and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony.

He is jailed in lieu of $1 million bail. His initial court appearance is set for March 1.
