One of two men accused in the robbery and beating death of a man in South Carolina more than 33 years ago has been arrested in the Twin Cities, authorities said.
Darnell J. Guyton, 55, was using the Salvation Army in downtown Minneapolis as his address at the time of his arrest on March 15, police said last week.
His alleged conspirator, Billy Dudley, 58, was arrested in West Virginia on March 21. Authorities would not say what evidence led them to each suspect.
Police say Thomas Bikas, 53, was walking home from a bar and was found dead on a sidewalk near his home by a passerby who flagged down police on Nov. 24, 1977 -- Thanksgiving Day. His wallet was missing.
Investigators say Dudley and Guyton followed Bikas for several blocks before attacking him and beating him to death.
