A man drove his vehicle through a fence and into a house shortly before noon Tuesday in Forest Lake, then set a fire with gasoline in a garage and barricaded himself in until his capture, authorities said.

The standoff occurred in the 9700 block of 203d Street N., according to Police Cmdr. Greg Weiss.

The man had threatened to shoot responding officers, according to emergency dispatch audio.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the man surrendered to law enforcement, Weiss added. There were no injuries to anyone at the property.

The commander said the suspect started a fire in the detached garage. He did not say how much damage the blaze caused.

Weiss said the mayhem stemmed from a dispute the man has with his ex-wife, who lives in the house.
