Gerald D. Gant likes to shoplift at the Mall of America and says he isn't going to stop.

At least that is what he told Bloomington police after he was arrested Sunday for stealing two pairs of designer sunglasses from the Solstice store, according to a court document.

Gant, 43, was videotaped by security staff stealing Prada sunglasses priced at $285 and Gucci sunglasses that cost $295. Gant allegedly removed the sales tags and left the store without paying for them.

He was caught and the sunglasses were recovered.

"As officers were escorting Gant, he said that he steals from the Mall of America all the time and he is not going to stop," Bloomington police investigator Tim Brosam wrote.

Brosam wrote that Gant was convicted for offering a forged check in Ramsey County in 2005.

Gant faces one felony account for theft over $500 that carries a penalty of up to 5 years and/or a fine of $5,000.

On Wednesday, Gant remained in Hennepin County jail and was scheduled to make a court appearance today at 8:30 a.m.
