The driver who called 911 was too frightened of the erratic driver to try to pass him; the car was weaving all over three lanes of northbound Interstate 35E in Eagan. And when the car with the racing stripes plowed through the median, snow arced high into the air, the caller said.
A complaint filed Wednesday in Dakota County District Court says an allegedly drunk suspect led officers on a chase at speeds up to 100 miles per hour, and once stopped, climbed out the window to meet with officers.
Delmond C. Huck, 45, of Apple Valley, was charged with fleeing police and drunken driving on March 5.
He had been heading north on 35E when a driver behind him phoned 911 at 11:30 p.m.
The caller said the car, a blue Chevy Cobalt with two racing stripes, exited onto Pilot Knob Road. A nearby officer spotted it and other officers got behind the car, which got onto 35E southbound.
"As soon as the vehicle came to 35E, it shot across all lanes of traffic," the complaint says.
Once officers turned on their lights and sirens, the driver allegedly sped away.
He finally pulled over at 35E and Diffley Road, and police yelled at him to get out of his car as he sat there for two or three minutes. Then he climbed out the driver's side window.
