A major winter storm will cause headaches across the mid-Atlantic with as muchas 2 feet of snow possible in some areas by Saturday evening. The heaviest snowwill fall across northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and southern New Jersey.Snow will begin to move into the lower mid-Atlantic by late this morning andfinally into parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey by this afternoon. Afternooncommutes throughout the region will be difficult as roads become snow coveredand slick.
The heaviest snow will fall overnight into Saturday morning before tapering offby Saturday evening in most areas. At the height of the storm, blowing anddrifting snow with near-zero visibility will make travel nearly impossible.
