Major Severe Weather Outbreak Thursday

Widespread severe thunderstorms, which could trigger several tornadoes, willimpact the Southeastern states Thursday and Thursday night as a vigorous stormtracks toward Tennessee.The severe weather will originate over the lower Mississippi Valley Thursdayafternoon. Intense thunderstorms will track quickly toward the east andnortheast through Thursday afternoon and evening, reaching the Carolinasovernight.

The worst of the storms will produce large hail, wind gusts in excess of 70mph and possibly strong tornadoes.

Heavy rainfall from the storms will cause some flooding of poor drainageareas and intersections. Visibility will also be greatly reduced for travelersacross this region due to the torrential downpours.
