The Lynx held their second straight practice on the Target Center main floor, and it didn't take long to hear the latest addition to coach Cheryl Reeve's arsenal: An electronic whistle.
It's quite shrill.
"It's courtesy of Monica [Wright]," Reeve said. "She didn't like the effort I was making to blow my own whistle."
In the wake of back surgery, something as simple as blowing hard on a whistle can be a problem for the still-recovering spine. Hence the push-button (and loud) whistle.
The good news? Reeve didn't have to use it a whole lot today during a brisk practice.
Here are some nuggets from today:
--Reeve said Maya Moore – the only starter currently in camp – will play some but not a lot in Monday's preseason game against the Australian National Team at Target Center. Reeve likes the example Moore is giving to the young players in camp, but doesn't want to over-work her stars.
--The rest of the starters, having just finished their overseas play, are arriving in town and should be in attendance at Sunday's practice, though they won't likely be working out yet.
