Veteran Lynx guard Monica Wright had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee Friday and will be out for at least a few weeks. Coach Cheryl Reeve said Wright might not be healed in time for the team's regular-season opener May 16.

"In workouts last week she had some troubles with her knee, some swelling and pain," Reeve said. An MRI was performed and surgery was indicated. "We got it cleaned up,'' Reeve said. "Hopefully she'll be pain-free when she gets back.''

The signing of guard Tan White is looking good, especially if Wright misses time early in the season. "We're using our insurance policy already," Reeve said.

The WNBA and its players' union weren't able to agree to a new collective bargaining agreement by the Friday night deadline, and now the league enters a ''status-quo'' period with no new extension reached.
