LYME DISEASE IN MINNESOTA
• The state Department of Health began collecting information about people who had Lyme disease in 1982. In 1985, it became a reportable disease in the state.
• In 2007, the ages of people who contracted Lyme disease ranged from infants to 88 years old. The median age was 41. Males accounted for 62 percent of the cases.
• As recently as 1999, there were just 283 cases of Lyme disease in Minnesota.
