R&B star Lyfe Jennings' show Friday at the Fine Line is canceled. He was sentenced Wednesday to 3 ½ years in prison for a 2008 arrest following a domestic incident with the mother of his children. He cancelled his gig set for Tuesday in Seattle and Fine Line staffers found out late Wednesday that he would not be coming to Minneapolis. Refunds are available at place of purchase. Jennings' own posting on his Twitter account – which he indicated would be his final one -- seemed to signal the end of the road for his music career. "To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt. I have had a fabulous career because of you. All I can say in parting is that I have been honest with yaw. I didn't sugarcoat a word didn't hold back a single sylible of my life from yaw. I've lived a hundred lives in these 6 yrs so I not only won't, I don't have the right to complain. I would like to think that I've changed lives by changing my own, tho I can't be sure. But one thing I am sure of is God gives and takes away in measure. He is fair, just and forever. Amen from aman... Smile, it's contageous." As you may recall, Jennings, at age 19, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for felony arson. After his release in 2002, he won a talent contest at New York's Apollo Theater and then put out four acclaimed albums, starting with 2004's gritty and boldly honest "Lyfe 268-192." His latest disc, the optimistic "I Still Believe," was released on Aug. 31.
