I have always thought that when we are in a New Moon Phase, that the fishing is better during the daytime hours. I believe that this is due to the fact that the fish have a difficult time seeing bait at night when the New Moon phase is upon us. This period usually happens about three days before and after the New Moon Phase. Since they can't see the bait during the night time hours, they have less chance of feeding which in turn makes them feed during the daytime. I think they are actively feeding vs. reacting to the baits I present to them at these times. When fish actively feed they are an easy target, just like when we get hungry we are easy targets for food even if we don't particularly like what is put in front of us.
So make sure you have new line on and the hooks are sharp because this upcoming Memorial Weekend, starting on Sunday, is the New Moon Phase.
Have a safe Holiday weekend and make sure you take time to remember the people that have fought hard for this country and for our freedom!! Thank a soldier...
