Kevin Love will travel to New York Wednesday morning. He will meet with Dr. Andy Weiland -- the hand specialist he has dealt with in the past -- in the afternoon. Then a treatment program for the broken bone in Love's right hand will be set, including a decision on whether or not the injury requires surgery.

Love hurt his hand with 4:13 left in the third quarter of the Timberwolves' victory in Denver Jan. 3. Love saw a Minneapolis doctor on Monday, the same day the team sent the MRI of Love's hand to New York. Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn said Monday that Love would be out for a "number of weeks."

In other news:

--Head coach Rick Adelman, who missed yesterday's practice and today's morning shoot for personal reasons, will not be at the game tonight; top assistant Terry Porter will handle head coaching duties tonight.

--Guard Ricky Rubio (back) and center Nikola Pekovic (left hip) are both expected to play tonight.

--Lazar Hayward was in the building observing practice. The team will sign him to a 10-day contract if Hayward clears waivers by 4 p.m. this afternoon. If he does sign, he will be in uniform for tonight's game with Atlanta.

That's about it for now. I'll get back to you before the game tonight.
