STEPHEN VINCENT DESIGN

Work alongside master goldsmith Stephen Vincent to design and create your own wedding or commitment rings. Vincent, a longtime creator of fine jewelry in the Twin Cities, will help you determine the best style and metal for your ring, plus other elements you might want to incorporate.

"The Art of Love Workshop" includes a one-hour design session with wine and cheese, and eight hours of work time in Vincent's workshop with lunch.

$850 for two people. The cost of the rings, diamond setting or shop time over eight hours is extra.*

*Based on current metal market prices, an average-size men's stainless steel ring costs $260; an average-size women's platinum ring costs $1,640.

METAL HEART JEWELRY

Metalsmith Kirk Sklar customizes packages for couples who want to symbolize their love by making rings in his jewelry-making and classroom studio. Couples may work alone, or there may be others in the class.

Prices vary based on what rings the couple wants to make, but a set of 14-karat gold conservative bands costs about $600. Couples can set their own diamonds, but that usually requires about five days of instruction. Sklar says customers can expect what's called "studio jewelry" -- not fine jewelry -- "but more like something you'd see at an arts festival." "Our customers are looking for something they can't get anywhere else."
