The alt-rock duo is literally picking one of its six albums out of a hat.

This is one of the coolest, gutsiest stunts I've heard a band think up in quite a while, and it sounds like a great way of keeping things fresh on the road: Illinois alt-rock duo Local H ("Bound for the Floor") is playing the Rock in Maplewood tonight as part of its "6 Angry Records Tour," in conjunction with the new live DVD "68 Angry Minutes." Each night of the tour, the band will pick an album title out of a hat and play that record in its entirety. The audience won't know what it's getting until showtime. It's a bit of a gamble for fans -- with my luck, if the Who were to do this I'd be there the night "It's Hard" gets pulled -- but with tickets only $5-$10, it's a pretty cheap bet. Showtime is 8 p.m., and Left Brain Heart, All the Way Rider and Machine 22 are the openers.
