Lobbyist reports show Chamber of Commerce, teachers union big spenders

The annual report by a state campaign finance agency lists spending by lobbyist organizations.

More than $61 million was spent in 2009 on lobbying activities in Minnesota, with the state Chamber of Commerce reporting the largest total disbursements, said the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board. Lobbyists for Education Minnesota, the state's largest teachers union, reported spending the most to influence legislative action. Lobbyists for Enbridge Energy reported the largest disbursements for administrative action. Lobbyists for MPR Public Radio Inc reported the largest disbursements in attempts to influence metropolitan governmental units.
