DETROIT -- Twins lefthander Francisco Liriano said his left shoulder did not feel well when he played catch before today's game against the Tigers, so he will likely miss one more start, at least.
The Twins had hoped he'd be able to test the shoulder in a bullpen session Tuesday, but that probably won't happen now, and Anthony Swarzak will likely make Thursday's start against the Royals.
Toward the end of batting practice today, Liriano was shagging balls in center field and having teammates throw the balls back toward the infield for him.
He's had an MRI exam, which showed inflammation, but the Twins were hoping that would subside.
Feel the heat: It feels like summer today. Finally. And that refrain is echoing through Detroit, too.
It's been chilly and/or rainy here for too many games, the locals say. But there should be a lot of sun these next three days with forecasted highs of 89, 89 and 80 degrees.
Justin Verlander pitched the Tigers to a 3-0 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday night, as Detroit avoided a four-game sweep. We'll see if the doubleheader has any effects on the Tigers today.
