Nose tackle Linval Joseph will start this afternoon against the Redskins.

Joseph missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a shoulder injury and only got in limited action Friday. But he insisted he was "good to go," and the fact that the Vikings did not promote a defensive tackle from the practice squad yesterday suggested that he was indeed ready to roll.

The Vikings will be without slot cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, though.

Veteran Terence Newman is expected to move inside when the Vikings deploy three corners, with Trae Waynes playing on the outside in the nickel. The alternative is playing rookie Mackensie Alexander in the slot.

In addition to Munnerlyn, the Vikings will also be without cornerback and punt returner Marcus Sherels. Also inactive for the Vikings today are wideout Laquon Treadwell, guards Willie Beavers and Zac Kerin, defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and third-string quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

Starting middle linebacker Eric Kendricks and left guard Alex Boone are both back after one-game absences due to concussions. Boone will be wearing a new helmet that he hopes will give his brain better protection.

And, of course, Blair Walsh is still the kicker after the Vikings worked out six kickers on Tuesday. The pressure to perform has never been greater for Walsh, and the Vikings have no idea how he is going to respond.

The Redskins will be without deep threat DeSean Jackson and starting running back Matt Jones. Their left tackle, Trent Williams, is suspended.
