Night lights

A warm glow welcomes visitors to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum with LED lights and more. Take an evening stroll around the outdoor light displays that decorate the grounds in gardens and entrances. Hours vary until Jan. 1; for details, visit arboretum.umn.edu; $15 gate admission, free for members. 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska. arboretum.umn.edu.

Prairie restoration

Landowners looking to attract pollinators, wildlife and protect water quality can download a free guide to bringing back native prairie plant communities. The new series of guides was developed by the Nature Conservancy in Minnesota and the University of Minnesota's Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology. The guides include basic how-to steps of prairie restoration, as well as recommended seed mixes. Because restoration sites vary, there are 20 different restoration guides and nine seed mixes to cover different parts of the state, various moisture levels and different combinations of existing vegetation. Guides can be downloaded at nature.org/mnprairierestorationguides.

Housing exhibit

A new exhibit, "Dutch Compact Housing," at the Goldstein Museum of Design explores a form of multifamily housing developed in the Netherlands for dense urban settings. The exhibit, curated by Julia Robinson, looks at the unique architectural forms of this housing and whether it can be replicated in other cities. Free, through Jan. 28. 1985 Buford Av., St. Paul. goldstein.design.umn.edu.
