Lights, action, Kelliher

Forum Communications bureau chief Don Davis isn't a notoriously funny guy.

But he fired a zinger at House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher on Tuesday after she and other legislative leaders met with the governor.

Kelliher emerged from the meeting to talk with journalists and noted that one of the television cameras faced the wrong direction.

Without skipping a beat, Davis joked that it was typical of a candidate for governor to pay such close attention to where the television cameras are pointing (Kelliher is, of course, a leading DFL candidate for governor).

The press corps groaned. House Majority Leader Tony Sertich laughed. Even Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller cracked a smile.

We waited. Would she deck Davis?

Nothing. She moved on to the interview.

Afterward, a Hot Dish staffer asked Kelliher if she was offended by Davis' banter.

"Noooo," she laughed. "Not at all."
