Many members of the Twin Cities theater community are stunned by the death of lighting designer Jen DeGolier. She was discovered in her Minneapolis home Friday night by friends who had noticed her absent recently. The cause is unknown.DeGolier, 36, regularly worked with small theaters and her designs were noteworthy for their complexity and strength in shaping the mood and intention of scenes. She was bright, talented and well loved by those with whom she worked. Facebook on Saturday morning was flooded with tributes from artists."The world has lost a beautiful friend today, and our community has lost a beautiful artist and designer," wrote Amy Rummenie, one of the leaders of Walking Shadow Theatre Company. DeGolier was supposed to start work soon on designing lights for that troupe's production of "Compleat Female Stage Beauty."DeGolier had missed opening night Thursday of a production she designed in St. Paul. After several calls among friends, she was discovered in her bedroom by roommates. Details were not available from police on Saturday morning. Her brother, Jeff, posted a note on Jen's page that read in part:"Reading all of these posts just reminds me more and more of how amazing she was. I am luckier than all of you. I am the only one who had the privilege to call her my sister."
