Pulltabs and the way charitable gambling is managed have become dinosaurs.

With the glitz and games available at casinos, it's no wonder sales of pulltabs dropped through the roof ("Where's the 'charity' in charitable gambling?" Dec. 19).

It's time to create the new deal for charitable gambling -- something the casinos can't have. I would like to see online gaming for charities to compete with casino games, with better odds.

Online play could be managed in one location, and taxes would be paid on time. Many of the management problems that have plagued pulltabs would be reduced or go away.

It's time to save this resource.
