I was deeply disturbed when I read about the riots sparked in part by a miscommunication that a Florida pastor had burned copies of the Qur'an ("15 are killed in latest protests in Kashmir," Sept. 14). Now, not only are 15 people in India dead, schools and government buildings are left in ruins. I hope that the Florida pastor realizes how much one person's actions, even if uncommitted, can have on the entire global community -- including turning off thousands of people to the Christian church. Perhaps that is one thing Muslim and Christian believers have in common: Both have extremists whose actions leave a horrible taste in the mouth and are the cause of embarrassment and pain.
