If, as Sen. Betsy Wergin, R-Princeton, implies in the Feb. 29 article about the failed confirmation of Carol Molnau to be transportation commissioner, the blame for our deteriorating roads and bridges should properly be laid on the Legislature's failure to properly fund transportation, then Wergin needs only to look at her own voting record to discover why it has been poorly funded. She and her fellow Republicans have pretty consistently voted against any bill specifically targeted to increase transportation funding.

HAROLD KLEVEN, BIG LAKE

Removal of Carol Molnau by the state Senate was a mistake. It is the governor's prerogative to name his Cabinet, and he did so. No one has found malfeasance. No one has found that lies have been told. In the face of no overt wrongdoing and the fact that she was the governor's pick, she should have stayed.
