Letter of the day: Stiffing the Red Bulls, and strengthening case for a draft

February 11, 2010 at 12:46AM

Here we go again. Our gallant Red Bull division did its job, only to come home to find out that the Big Boys in Washington, D.C., and St. Paul have forgotten about them ("Red Bulls still awaiting $10M in OT pay," Feb. 4). What is going on with these "servants" of the people? I'm guessing that they saw to it that their loves ones got deferments to stay home. As a member of the U.S. Merchant Marine serving in World War II, I know what it feels like to be forgotten. It took Congress 60 years to see that we got the G.I. Bill of Rights. Sometimes I think the only answer is to reinstate the draft so that everyone gets a tour of duty. God bless the Red Bulls and God bless this great country of ours. MICHAEL CHRIS BOOSALIS, RICHFIELD

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
