Letter of the day (Oct. 10): Traffic stop

Not sure what to think about 'routine traffic stop' of Minnesota Lynx player.

I was surprised to read (and see on TV) that Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus was stopped by the police for having an air freshener hanging from her rear-view mirror. (The officer also noted that she had out-of-state license plates.)

Every day I see people who drive with their "handicap" signs hanging from their mirror, plus people with fuzzy dice or similar things hanging. How many times are those people stopped by police?

How many times do the police stop people who are driving on rainy days without their headlights? It is a law, but the police would not get much else done if they tried stopping them all. It would be interesting to find that out.

Was it racial profiling when they stopped Augustus? I'm just asking.
