Letter of the Day (March 30): Rihanna

The review of Rihanna's concert ("Barbados bombshell is bit of a dud," March 25) describes yet another example of how concerts today have changed from what we used to expect when paying big bucks to see our favorite entertainers.

For many of today's superstars, it appears that the actual singing is mostly done in recording studios. The emphasis in concerts seems to be on the theatrics — dancing, prancing, backup dancers, props and such. While all these parts to a show are fine, it seems odd that the singing isn't more important.

Thinking back to some of my favorite concerts, I laughed out loud at the thought of Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, the Eagles, Rolling Stones and others only pretending to sing. Mick Jagger lip-syncing? Not in a million years.
