Presentation on gender differences left elite female athletes' skills understated.

The "Fit but unequal" graphic in the March 24 Variety section was an interesting way to explain the differences in performance in male and female athletes. However, it failed to note that while elite male athletes will typically outperform elite female athletes, elite female athletes outperform the vast majority of all male athletes.
