The editors are greatly to be commended for the timely publication of "Drowning doesn't look like drowning" (July 1). It was certainly an eye-opener for me, and hopefully for many people, particularly those with young children. My daughter and I discussed the article, and she described several incidents in which a child's death was imminent because the adults didn't recognize the signs or weren't carefully watching the child.

A child can drown so very quickly and quietly when adults are insufficiently attentive.

'Tis the season, and we, sadly, will see more stories about "accidental" deaths of children that could have been prevented.

I hope that next year, the Star Tribune will run this piece again, or another like it. Every year, in fact.
