Heavy, persistent rain in the Twin Cities metro clogged the morning commute on Thursday May 24, 2012. Traffic was stopped on 694 West bound between Lexington Ave and Snelling Ave. in Arden Hills. Crews closed the road temporarily due to a mudslide earlier in the morning commute.

Every day, I drive my car and try to respect the speed limit. Even when I'm in the far right lane, aggressive drivers still tailgate. I get upset by these drivers and wonder if I am to accommodate them by disrespecting the law. This does not happen only to me.

But we drivers who follow the law are not incompetent ("If you can't keep up, try public transportation," Readers Write, July 22), nor do we want a ticket, which would raise our auto insurance premium.

Aggressive drivers should leave their homes or offices with a margin of five to 10 minutes for congestion, so that they may slow down and save lives. Respect the law and let other drivers set an example for their children.
