I'm writing this before the polls open on Tuesday, not knowing what the outcome of the election will bring to Minnesota. But there is one thing of which I am certain: No matter who wins at the ballot box, Minnesotans will be the losers if our new leaders refuse to find ways to work together for the common good of this great state. We cannot afford to suffer under more of the same divisive politics that have defined this state for too long. True leaders will recognize that there is strength and pragmatism in compromise. Starting today, our elected leaders should surround themselves with advisers who represent multiple viewpoints, seek the best that all sides have to offer, extend the hand of collaboration and get down to the business of leading Minnesota forward. We expect nothing less! ANN BERNE-RANNOW, EDEN PRAIRIE
Letter of the day: If election winners don't collaborate, Minnesotans lose
