The hashtag #fav7films shot to the top of the trending charts earlier this week as Twitter users went wild listing their seven favorite movies. Social media research firm Fizziology determined that the hashtag was used more than 100,000 times in the first day (and even tallied the top vote-getter: "The Dark Knight").

For my list, I went in a different direction, posting "#fav7films: Minnesota Edition." My picks:

1. "The Mighty Ducks"

2. "Fargo"

3. "Purple Rain"

4. "A Simple Plan"

5. "Inside Out"

6. "Young Adult"

7. "Contagion"

Some of my Twitter friends disagreed (downright angrily, actually!). Where's the mockumentary "Drop Dead Gorgeous," they asked? Or "Mallrats" (the Kevin Smith classic filmed at Eden Prairie Center Mall)? And what about "Feeling Minnesota," starring Keanu Reeves? Ha, this isn't a list about movies that were simply filmed in Minnesota, guys.

Curiously, no one complained about No. 1, even though it's far from being the most acclaimed movie on the list (15 percent positive reviews on rottentomatoes.com). But, really, who can argue with Gordon Bombay and the tagline: "Quack! Quack! Quack!"

Police chief Marge Gunderson (played by Frances McDormand) takes aim at a fleeing suspect in the Joel and Ethan Coen movie FARGO.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
