Leslie Davis, the longtime Twin Cities environmental advocate, urged delegates at the state Republican convention to reject the other candidates and endorse him for governor.

"If you endorse me, we can make wonderful history in Minnesota," he told the delegates at the state Republican convention. The delegates, who listened as Davis described his life in detail, mostly sat without responding.

"Do you want history, or do you want misery?" he said.

As he critiqued the other Republican gubernatorial candidates, a few booed.

Davis acknowledged in his speech that many of the delegates may not know him, but blamed part of it on his not having a chance to be heard because of those who "have blocked me" from speaking.

After giving a long summary of his accomplishments, mostly in the environmental field, he looked up at the crowd and said: "Not bad, huh?"

He added: "You're not taking a big chance with Leslie Davis. There's no mystery. I'm an open book."

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
