New to hunting deer? The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources hsd a program for you to learn.

The annual program is limited to 10 people who are 18 or older and who are new to hunting or have hunted only once. The application deadline is Aug. 15.

"We place a high value in training adults to hunt because adults can continue to hunt after these sessions, whereas youth usually rely on a parent or other adult. Adults also can pass on what they learn to their own families or friends," said Mike Kurre, mentoring program coordinator with the DNR, in a news release.

Contact Kurre at michael.kurre@state.mn.us for an application. Participants must attend two class or range training days Sept. 10 and Oct. 8, and need to complete the online firearms safety training. Loaner firearms are available.
