An Andover lawyer who forged a signature, neglected clients and kept their money was disbarred by the Minnesota Supreme Court Wednesday, according to the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility.Jay G. Swokowski was initially suspended in 2009 for overdrawing his trust fund, failing to maintain records and neglecting client matters. He never petitioned to have his 90-day suspension lifted, the office said.The office then investigated allegations that Swokowski neglected seven clients' cases or improperly kept their fees, failed to pay a legal judgment and forged a client's signature on a check.According to the office, Swokowski evaded legal-paper servers and failed to respond to information requests.Read the disbarment decision here.Read the 2009 suspension order here.
