Britta Ollmann is back in the Twin Cities, cast as the lead in Theater Latte Da's February production of "Violet."

Ollmann was a young phenom at the Children's Theatre Company ("Pippi Longstocking" and "Lilly's Purple Purse") before going off to New York University and appearing in the Broadway premiere of "A Catered Affair."

Among her castmates in the Latte Da staging are Randy Schmeling, Dieter Bierbrauer (currently Curly in Chanhassen's "Oklahoma!") and Maeve Moynihan, who coincidentally is a current phenom at CTC ("Cinderella").

Peter Rothstein will direct the production, at the Guthrie Studio. "Violet" has music by Jeanine Tesori ("Caroline or Change"). It's based on a story by Doris Betts about an emotionally scarred woman who bonds with a fellow outsider on a trip during the Civil Rights 1960s.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
