Latest on the Tropical Rainstorm

July 24, 2009 at 6:55PM

A storm out of the tropics certainly made a name for itself during the past24 hours. New England was hardest hit with rainfall reaching 2-4 inches in mostlocations. In addition, the storm produced winds up to 40 mph along the coastfrom Cape Cod to Eastport, Maine. Now one could argue the storm should have been named. I say what differentdoes it make. Name or no name, it was a big rain and wind event and made NewEngland even soggier than it already has been this summer.

Friday night the storm will leave northern New England impacting only theMaritime Provinces.

The lightning bolts you see farther west on the map are from a differentsystem entirely. Although scattered, some of those storms will producetemporary bursts of heavy rain this evening.
