A storm will rapidly strengthen off the New England coast today, spreading rainover New England and a wintry mix from the eastern Great Lakes through thecentral Appalachians. The heaviest snow from the storm will be falling tonight into Saturday over theAdirondacks of upstate New York and the higher ground of far northern NewEngland and southern Quebec. People who live in these areas could be diggingout from up to half a foot of snow by Saturday morning.

The mountains of western Pennsylvania and West Virginia could have a slushy 1-3inches of snow. Roads could become slick, so motorists are urged to take theirtime into tonight.

Areas farther west will generally have little to no accumulation with any snowshowers. Roads will be mostly wet in this zone.

The I-95 corridor in the Northeast will just get a little rain, but strongwinds will make this storm feel cold. It will feel more like the 30s in themajor cities of this corridor during the day today.
